Fire Safe Ball Valve Working Principle & API 607 Structural Design for Oil Gas Plant

Fire safe valves are essential safety equipment for oil refineries, natural gas stations, chemical plants and flammable medium pipelines. In case of sudden pipeline fire, ordinary soft-seat valves will melt instantly and cause massive medium leakage, leading to fire spreading and explosion risks. Fire safe valves can maintain sealing performance even under high-temperature fire conditions. The core fire-safe design includes two key structures: soft seal for normal working condition and metal backup seal for fire emergency condition. During normal operation, PTFE or RTFE soft seat ensures zero leakage. When fire occurs and high temperature melts the soft sealing material, the precision-machined metal sealing surface automatically takes over the sealing function to avoid medium leakage. In addition, fire safe valves adopt anti-static structure to eliminate static spark risks, anti-blowout stem design to prevent stem failure under fire pressure, and full-body metal rigid sealing backup structure. All fire safe performance complies with API 607 and API 6D fire test standards. Fire safe valves are mandatory for flammable liquid, gas, hydrogen and petrochemical process pipelines. They effectively prevent fire escalation, reduce explosion risks and ensure plant safety under extreme accident conditions.
