About This Calculator

Professional control valve sizing per IEC 60534 / ISA S75. Supports liquids, gases, steam, and two-phase flow.

Calculates Cv (Kv), flow regime, cavitation, valve opening, and matching valve selection for up to 4 operating conditions.

Standards: IEC 60534-2-1 · ISA S75.01 · IEC 60534-8-3

FAQ

What is Cv?

Flow coefficient — GPM of water at 60°F with 1 psi drop. Higher Cv = more capacity.

What is choked flow?

Flow limited by fluid properties when ΔP exceeds a critical value.

What is cavitation?

Vapor bubbles form/collapse when local pressure drops below vapor pressure, causing damage.

Ideal valve opening?

20-80%. Below 10% = oversizing; above 90% = undersizing.
