Midstream — Pipelines & Terminals

What valve types are used in sour gas (H2S) service?+
For sour gas service, valves must comply with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156. We use specially heat-treated carbon steel (A105 normalized) or low-alloy steel (LF2, F22) with hardness control below 22 HRC. Trim materials use 316SS or Inconel overlay. Spring-loaded or pressure-energized metal seats ensure tight shutoff with abrasive sand-laden fluids.
Why use trunnion-mounted ball valves instead of floating ball valves in pipelines?+
Trunnion-mounted ball valves anchor the ball at top and bottom, reducing operating torque and allowing the pipeline pressure to energize the seats for sealing. This design handles high-pressure (Class 900-2500) and large sizes (up to 56-inch) without excessive torque. Floating ball valves are limited to smaller sizes (typically ≤ 10-inch) and lower pressure classes.
What is double block and bleed (DBB) and why is it required?+
DBB valves provide two seating surfaces with a body cavity vent between them. When closed, both seats seal simultaneously, and the cavity between can be bled to verify seal integrity. This is critical for pipeline isolation segments, meter stations, and pig launchers where positive shutoff verification is mandatory for safety compliance.
Are your valves fire-safe certified?+
Yes. Our ball valves and butterfly valves for oil & gas service are tested per API 607 6th Edition or API 6FA. Fire-safe design includes graphite secondary seats, anti-static devices, and metal-to-metal backup sealing. After fire exposure at 750-1000°C for 30 minutes, valves maintain structural integrity and achieve permissible leakage rates.
